Today i had the chance to sit down with one of KCC's many amazing Cosplay Guests to find out more about them and their cosplay life. Her name is Candy Cosplay and this is her story....

Q: How long have you been cosplaying?

A: I have been cosplaying for about 10 years, gosh its really been long once i think about it. I have been guesting at conventions for only 3 years now.

Q: Why do you cosplay?

A: Honestly i just love the art of it. The chance to express my individuality and creativeness. The love for the art itself is what makes it so wonderful.

Q: Do you prefer to work alone or with others?

A: I love working with others. I always love having people around while i am working. Even sometimes i will be working on something and a friend will be with me working on their own project. I would collaborate if i had the chance, that's for sure.

Q: Do you have a current cosplay favorite?

A: Malthael from Diablo 3

Q: What was your most expensive cosplay project? Least Expensive?

A: My most expensive would have to be my Malthael cosplay as there was so much little things that cost so much. When it comes to my least expensive i would have to say my Rey from Star Wars but that is for obvious reasons. Its a simple cosplay.

Q: What is a cosplay pet peeve of yours?

A: When cosplayers disrespect other cosplayers. So people who believe they are more superior because they created there cosplay from scratch and others cant afford that so they just buy their cosplay. You wouldnt believe how many cosplayers out there hate on those who dont make from scratch.

Q: Photoshopped or Unphotoshopped?

A: I prefer photoshopped but that is only because when taking a photo you never can count on the wind or anything . So during the photo one of your hairs could be streaming across your face. Yes the photo looks good but you do not want that hair there for prints. That is where photoshop does save lives.

Q: What does cosplay mean to you?

A: Well i have been dressing up ever since i was little. My mom could never get me to take off whatever costume i was wearing. After my first con i realized what cosplaying was and i felt so silly for not dressing up. Ever since then it has been a huge passion for me.

Q: Do you have cosplays that are sometimes painful or uncomfortable? Are you willing to bleed for your art?

A: Actually my Lady Loki cosplay was painful, i wound up making the torso too tight so it wound up pinching me every time i wore it. And i wore it for hours on end. In all honesty yes i would bleed for my art because it is all worth it in the end.

Q: When do you find yourself cosplaying? Is it something you stick with for events/conventions only?

A: No, i will cosplay any chance i get. Even sometimes my friend will come over and she will tell me too put on a costume and state that we should go out and do a photoshoot just for fun.

Q: What was your first convention? Last one? Next one?

A: My first convention was Fan Expo in Toronto and that was years ago. My last one not including KCC was Toronto Comic Con last month. My next one is a very small one in Niagara Falls called Geekery of the Galaxy or Gaurdians of the Geekery. Not entirely sure on the name to be honest.

Q: Do you RSVP to events?

A: Most of the time i tend to get invited to be a guest at events and if that doesnt happen then i try to reach out to said event and ask if i could guest or if they need guest cosplayers.

Q: Does it bother you when people know nothing about the series they are cosplaying?

A: Not one bit. I honestly think if you love the way the character looks and wish to dress up like them then so be it. To each their own.

Q: Who is your biggest inspiration?

A: I have a few but if i had to only choose one it would be Jessica Nigri. She is amazing.

Q: Any Advice for the aspiring cosplayers out there?

A: Do not ever discourage yourself. If you feel you cannot make the costume then just buy it. It doesn't matter in the end. As long as you are happy and love the character that is all that matters.

After all the major questions were out of the way i took the time to ask some fun and friendly questions just to lighten the mood, here is what came of that....

Q: We are doing a poll at our office to see how many Con Guests like pickles. Do you like pickles?

A: i LOVE pickles. any kind and i will eat them.

Q: Who is your celebrity crush?

A: *laughs* Tom Hiddleston. I met him awhile ago and he is the most amazing and sweetest man.

Q: What would be your one super power if you had the choice?

A: I would have to say the ability to read minds. Not sure why i just feel it would be fun and useful.

Q: What is your biggest fear?

A: Spiders. Defiantly Spiders. *has cringe look on her face*
