Calling all fans of the Call of Duty franchise! The newest installment of the renowned game series by Sledgehammer Games has been slated for release! As revealed in a global livestream on April 26, Call of Duty WWII will be set to release on November 3 of this year, available first on Playstation 4 and then for PC and Xbox One. Preorders are available now, which will include access to the private beta prior to launch.

The game’s campaign and gameplay will travel back to the approaching end of World War II, where players will join Allied forces as one of two United States soldiers in the “Bloody 1st“ Infantry Division, Private Ronald “Red” Daniels and Private First Class Robert Zussman, in addition to other playable characters from the French Resistance and British Forces. New features included in the soon-to-be announced multiplayer mode will involve new divisions, war mode, a headquarters social space, and the game will return to the “boots-on-the-ground” style of multiplayer gameplay, meaning no wall-running, double-jumping, or jetpacks. During the campaign, you will not have access to health regen, forcing players to rely on their medic squadmates for health, in addition to retrieving ammo from your other squad members. And of course, there will be Nazi Zombies.

The game trailer, released on April 26 on the Call of Duty YouTube channel, displays real gameplay and cut scenes from the game. The visuals in the trailer are stunning, detailed, and heart wrenching. The raw feelings one would attribute to the violence of war in the 1940’s is definitely emulated within what has been seen so far. However, given the recent decline in the Call of Duty line, with past releases like Ghosts and Infinite Warfare on the PC platform being viewed negatively, we can hold our breath with how the game quality may actually be. In my personal opinion, I will likely not play it due to a lack of interest in the franchise overall, but if friends or my partner do, I may give it a try.

Pre-order is available at the COD WWII website https://www.callofduty.com/ca/en/wwii, in the forms of the Base Game (digital or physical), Digital Deluxe Edition (Season Pass and additional content), and Pro Edition (Season Pass, collectable steelbook, and extras). Get yours today to experience the call to duty in 1944.
