X-Files is Back for their 11th Season

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny excited fans by returning to the Fox Network as their iconic roles, agents Scully and Mulder, after a 13 year absence from television broadcasts and eight years after the last film version of the show. For viewers who are just starting the series, “The X-Files” is the story of Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson), as paranormal investigators for the FBI. Fox released a limited-series in 2016 and fans were delighted, but that was not enough to satisfy our hunger for Sci-fi apocalyptic themed Netflix binge-watching.

Season 10 contained 6 episodes which were standalone episodes, so it’s not like there’s necessarily a storyline that is satisfying when binge-watching. Although the season 10 was released as a miniseries, it was Fox’s second most popular release of 2016 with an audience of 16 million viewers, according to Fox. The new series is giving viewers four extra episodes and with that said, we may be in-store for a full revival, hopefully with a higher budget that can accommodate vaster filming sets in Vancouver or LA and additional writers working alongside the original creator Chris Carter. An official release date has not been announced, but the Fox network has reassured fans X-files Season 11 will be aired either late 2017 or early 2018.

In the season 10 finale, Mudler was overcome by a deadly virus and the episode ended in his final moments with Scully looking up into the lights of the spacecraft that was directly over her, Mudler and Miller. So what can fans expect for season 11 of The X-files? Fox has very cryptic and hushed as to what will happen in Season 11, but said events will take place two years after season 10 and filming is slated to begin production this summer.
