Announced last month, the best-selling series by famed horror writer Anne Rice, “The Vampire Chronicles” will have its own television series! The series, which includes 11 books in total, has already had two movies produced from two of its books; Interview with a Vampire was released in 1994 and starred Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, and Queen of the Damned, which was released in 2002 and starred Stuart Townsend and singer Aaliyah.

The series will be produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content; Anne Rice herself will be writing and executive producing the series in conjunction with her son, four-time New York Times bestseller Christopher Rice, and producers from Anonymous Content, to bring to life the romantic, sophisticated gothic atmosphere of the long-running vampire fiction series.

The series will revolve around the “Brat Prince” narrator of several books in the series – Lestat de Lioncourt, the vain, artistic and philosophical vampire who is a central figure in many of the novels. The series will chronicle his life, from his origins through his adventures and misfortunes detailed within the books. Likely to be featured will be Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat’s fledging companion for much of “Interview with a Vampire”, and Claudia, a vampire child created and cared for by Lestat and Louis.

No set date of premiere has been set but the series has been in production planning for some time. Hopefully some time this year or early next, we will see the amazing series brought to life in all its bloody, vampiric glory!
