The newest film adaption of Wonder Woman released this past Friday with high expectations and to much anticipation. However, many fans of the original 1970’s television series and movie have been anticipating what the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter’s, opinion of this new movie is.

The character of Wonder Woman was originally created by American writer and psychologist William Moulton Marston and artist Harry G. Peter. She is an Amazonian demigoddess, originating from the fictional island country of Themyscira, located in the middle of the ocean on Earth. Born to Queen Hippolyta from the soil of her world, Wonder Woman is known for being a bisexual, feminist superheroine and fights crime with her Lasso of Truth, while maintaining her secret identity of Diana Prince in human form. Many recognize her by her unique red, gold, and blue-starred jumpsuit, projectile tiara, and indestructible bracers.

Carter portrayed Wonder Woman in the 1975-1979 television series and movie Wonder Woman, setting the precedent and legacy for generations of fans, especially girls, to come. She allowed for girls to identify themselves with another female character, to feel empowered, strong, and fearless, regardless of the odds.

Carter attended the Los Angeles premiere of Wonder Woman, where she met the latest actress to portray Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot. Gadot is an Israeli actress who first starred as Wonder Woman in the 2016 film Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice to significant praise for her performance.

Of the film, Carter tweeted out on May 26: “What a wonderful movie!! Gal Gadot is fabulous as Wonder Woman. I had so much fun at the premiere.” So it can be assured that the film has her stamp of approval, as so does Gal! Wonder Woman is now in theatres, so grab your tickets and get out there for some Wonder Woman power!
