The Warner brothers and sister may make a return to television! The popular 90s Warner Brothers cartoon is in early stages of development for a reboot.

Nostalgia is a big business these days, and nothing is more nostalgic than classic Saturday morning cartoons. Interest in rebooting Animaniacs is most likely due to a surge in viewership when Netflix released the series on their streaming service in April 2016. Other older television shows have been revived in a similar manner with success, such as Gilmore Girls and Fuller House.
Animaniacs ran for 99 episodes from 1993 to 1998, as well as a direct to VHS film titled Wakko’s Wish. Each episode consisted of usually two or three short skits featuring characters such as Slappy Squirrel and Pinky and the Brain. Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, the Warner siblings, function to tie the show together by either introducing or appearing in the shorts.
During its initial run, Animaniacs won eight Daytime Emmy Awards and one Peabody Award. The show was enjoyed by both children for its slapstick comedy and adults for its social commentary and darker humor.
Spielberg, who produced the original Animaniacs series run, is expected to work on the follow-up. He also produced the spin off shows, Pinky and the Brain, and Freakazoid!, so he is very closely involved with the show and it would be more unusual if he was no involved in any capacity.
While it’s still very early in development and does not have a network attached yet, it’s not too soon to start hyping up by binging through the original series! So just sit back and relax, you’ll laugh until you collapse.
Those are the facts.
