“Dark Knight” Trilogy Gets 4K Remastered

With an increase in the level of high definition content and what people expect and demand from the entertainment industry, many of your favourite films will likely be getting a revamp into the world of HD quality. Most recently, Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy is now expected to be rereleased in 4K in the near future!

“The Dark Knight” was director Christopher Nolan’s dark, gritty take on the classic superhero Batman and the man behind the mask, Bruce Wayne. Portrayed by Christian Bale, Batman’s rise, fall, rebirth, and close were played out in three epic films – “Batman Begins” (2005), “The Dark Knight” (2008), and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012). Batman faced modern versions of his classic rivals, such as Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy), Bane (Tom Hardy), Harvey “Two Face” Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson), and the ever infamous Joker (Heath Ledger). Additionally, the films never forgot the many friends and associates that fought along side the Dark Knight, including Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), Commissioner James Gordon (Gary Oldman), and Bruce Wayne’s ever faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine).

The film series was met with high praise for the new take, filmography, and performances by the actors, though the third installment “The Dark Knight Rises” was met with some negative criticisms. Bale and Ledger both received acclaim for their performances in “The Dark Knight”, making the films some of the best in the 21st century. So it only makes sense for them to be rereleased in 4K.

Nolan recently stated in an interview that he is personally overseeing the development of the new and improved releases, as he is excited to share the higher quality footage from the films, which were shot in 6K originally. Though the IMAX releases for “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises” were in 18K resolution, the increased clarity and definition will surely be a treat for all those who are fans of this incredible trilogy!
