Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan Miniseries Announced

With the recent release of “Logan” and Deadpool’s increasing popularity, it was only a matter of time before the wise-cracking merc’s jabs at the tri-bladed superhero would finally culminate in an epic battle between the two, be it on screen or in print. Well, this October, Marvel Comics has a five-part mini comic series, amusingly titled “Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan”.

Deadpool, the “merc with a mouth”, is the anti-hero known best for his antics, ugly mug, and deadly killing skills; Wolverine is the baggage-laden, morose superhero with the adamantium-coated skeleton and three retractable “claws” within his hands. Both are long time features of the Marvel Universe and both characters share similarities; both hail from Canada (Deadpool’s origins are ever-changing and subjective but have been usually declared as Canadian), both have an accelerated healing factor, rendering them basically immortal, and both have worked with and been in association with the X-Men. However, while similar, they can be strikingly different, especially in personality.

Declan Shalvey, the writer of the miniseries, has stated the comic will be a slight deviation from the Wolverine we know, making him older and carrying different baggage than we are used to. He states that though the two differ in personality, it makes sense for them to be featured in a comic together because they are more alike than many would think. The artist of the series, Mike Henderson, has described the run as “a not so buddy-buddy buddy comedy with all the bickering, explosions, and stabbing you’d expect from a comic starring Deadpool and Logan…”

The series’ debut is set for October 18, so mark your calenders and prepare for fourth wall breaks, brooding, capers, and more than likely some bromance. Two infamous characters are about to go head to head for what is right in their own minds.
