Reebok “Alien” Sneakers Now Available

Who says you can’t be geeky and athletic? Not Reebok. Inspired by the iconic space horror franchise “Alien”, the athletic shoe brand announced a set of sneakers, inspired by the shoes worn by the main character in the film, the epic final battle that occurred in the film, and the art of the film’s visual effects and set designer H.R. Giger. As of July 18, the original release date of the film, both pairs are now available!

“Aliens”, released in 1986, starred Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, Carrie Henn as Rebecca “Newt” Jorden, Lance Henriksen as Bishop, and Michael Biehn as Corporal Dwayne Hicks, along with others in a fight for survival against a predatory alien species. The sequel to the first film follows Ripley, having being rescued after 57 years in stasis while drifting in space. Despite disbelief in her claims of aliens killing her crew mates and destroying her ship to save herself, Ripley must return to exomoon LV-426 when the terraforming colony Hadleys Hope, having inhabited it since her departure, has gone radio-silent and a crew is dispatched to investigate. Inside, they find the entire colony has been wiped out, save for a young girl, Rebecca “Newt” Jorden, who managed to evade capture and death for months by hiding in the ventilation shafts. Now, Ripley and the crew must strive to protect Newt, as well as exterminate the aliens before they kill everyone and spread beyond the colony.

The collector’s set, aptly named “Alien Stomper”, features a yellow pair and a black pair of high-top sneakers. The yellow, named “Powerloader” and based off of Ripley’s cargo exoskeleton she dons to fight the Alien Queen, features yellow with black stripes and orange soles to reference the armour. Small details, including red arrows, the “PWL” heel graphics, P-5000 serial number, and a mesh overlay over the Reebok logo are all nods to this powersuit. The black shoes, named “Queen” and based off of the Queen Xenomorph Ripley faces off with in the final battle, feature shiny black patent leather, green glowing midsoles, and a forefoot strap embroidered with the Alien’s species code “XX121”.

The shoe set is available in unisex sizes for $325, which are final sale and can only be purchased by themselves when purchased on Reebok.com. They come boxed in a box, decorated inside in the design of the Queen alien’s chamber and the outside designed like the powerloader bay, each pair kept in a separate compartment.
