Retro comics were a staple in the childhoods and adolescences of many, creating a deep feeling of nostalgia when reading or seeing the old editions. So comic fans of old and new now have something to look forward to, as a new mini series has been announced by Marvel Comics at San Diego Comic Con and is set to release in December of this year!

Titled “X-Men: Grand Designs”, the six issue series is styled in the same way as retro comics and will be examining the X-men history by decade. The series creator, Ed Piskor, is already deep into the work, having finished four of the six issues scheduled. Piskor is best known for his work creating Hip-Hop Family Tree, and has chosen to write, draw, ink, colour, and letter each of the six issues himself without help.

While few details have been released surrounding this issue, we know for a fact that two issues will be released per year, and will condense and combine the first 300 issues of Uncanny X-Men into one storyline. The comics will examine the long, rich, dark history of the X-men and its ever changing line up of members. The promote the series, Marvel has released the six covers interlockling.

Hopefully Pisker not only pulls this off but makes the series a huge success. X-Men fans will hold their breath until the first issue drops in December.
