For those unfamiliar with the “Dragon Ball” franchise, a brief synopsis could never do it justice, but the main points of the story revolve around a Saiyan by the name of Goku. Goku was sent to Earth as an infant by the Saiyans (a powerful extraterrestrial race) to conquer the planet, however upon arrival suffered a brain injury that removed his bloodthirsty nature and memory. Raised on Earth, he later learns of his origins and trains to become a powerful force of good to protect the Earth from foes. Goku appears in the second series “Dragon Ball Z” as married to his friend Chi-Chi and has a son, Gohan.

Gohan is one of the main characters of “Dragon Ball Z”, being the half-Saiyan son of the main protagonist. However, his appearances differ from that of his father’s, as he is more the intellectual than the fighter. However he is not indisposed to fighting when necessary, especially in defense of those he loves. Gohan’s life is chartered through out the plot of DBZ, concluding with his marriage to Videl and the birth of their daughter Pan.

A common criticism of Gohan is his lack of strong storylines in DBZ, but it appears there are plans to change this with a new arc within the latest incarnation of the DB franchise, “Dragon Ball Super”. DBS first aired in 2015 and is continuing to run, and recently a new set of synopses were released in Japan. One of which included an episode that translates to “Don’t Go Easy, Gohan! Decisive Battle Against Universe 10!”, which states Gohan has regained his former strength and battles against opponents in the Tournament of Power. This, coupled with a preview image of Gohan powering up, can only affirm one thing: Gohan will go mystic.

Fans of the franchise will likely be very excited for their hero to get a new kickstart and become the powerful being he is. The new episode that features this epic resurrection of power will air in Japan on August 13, but can be viewed later on CrunchyRoll. Power up your Ki and unleash a Kamehameha if you’re pumped for Mystic Gohan!
