It could be said marriages never last in the entertainment industry, seeing as the weight of stardom, travelling, touring, and filming can all strain a marriage. When celebrities we admired are married, we all hope that the marriage is happy and balanced, but sometimes even the best intended people can’t make everything work. This unfortunately has become the case with Hollywood power couple Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, who announced they would be separating earlier this week.

We’re all familiar with Chris Pratt, who has become best known for his portrayal of Peter “Starlord” Quill in the” Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, but rose to stardom in his roles as Owen Grady in “Jurassic World”, Jim Preston in “Passengers”, and Andy Dwyer in the TV sitcom “Parks and Recreation”. Any fan of raunchy comedies with dark humour will be familiar with Anna Faris, who is best known for her role as Cindy Campbell in the first four “Scary Movie” installment, but has also starred in films such as “Brokeback Mountain”, “Waiting…”, and “The House Bunny”.
The two funny actors met in 2007, while filming the retro comedy “Take Me Home Tonight” and began dating shortly after filming wrapped. They got engaged in late 2008 and married on July 9, 2009 in Bali. Together, they have a son Jack, who was born in 2012 at nine weeks premature and spent a month in the NICU.
What’s most sad of this split is not that it was unexpected, not that it was after almost ten years together, but that they seem genuinely heartbroken by this outcome. In a joint statement made on Chris’ Facebook page on Sunday, they stated:
“Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.

Whatever their reasons for splitting up are, all we can do is be respectful and give them space and the privacy they have requested. We should all wish them the best and try not to spread rumours and accuse others of causing the split. I sincerely hope that whatever outcome, they and their son remain happy and healthy through it all.
