2016’s smash comedy hit “Deadpool” has left fans begging for more, and earlier this year a sequel was announced for release on June 1, 2018! Ryan Reynolds will, of course, be reprising his role of the cheeky mercenary with the uncanny healing factor; Morena Baccarin is also slated to return as Vanessa, the fiancée of dear Deadpool’s alter ego Wade Wilson; both Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapičić will repeat their roles as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus, respectively; and Leslie Uggams and T.J. Miller will return as Blind Al and Weasel once again.

New additions to the cast of the sequel will include Zazie Beetz as Neena Thurman aka Domino, a mutant mercenary with probability-altering powers and expert marksmanship; Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy, a plant manipulating mutant; and Josh Brolin as Cable.
Cable, aka Nathan Summers, is the son of Cyclops (Scott Summers) and Jean Grey’s clone Madelyne Pryor and the half-brother of Nate Grey and Rachel Summers in the Marvel Comic Universe. He is a cybernetically enhanced mutant (giving him enhanced strength, durability, and a cybernetic eye with enhanced vision) who possess telepathic abilities, including technopathy, telekinesis, and telepathy. He is also an expert marksman who also possesses latent time travel abilities, later brought forth by Charles Xavier and Jean Grey.
Josh Brolin, who is best known for his portrayal of Llewelyn Moss in “No Country for Old Men” and George W. Bush in “W.”, has been signed for a four film contract with 20th Century Fox to portray Cable, the first of these being in “Deadpool 2”. Ryan Reynolds released a first teaser image of Brolin as Cable on social media yesterday. The two images, the first a close up of Brolin’s face in makeup (cybernetic eye and all) with the caption “We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future…”, and the second a full body shot with the caption “DeadPool 2: Your premium #Cable provider…”
At first glance, one might mistake the traditionally handsome Brolin for the rougher, gruffer looking Ron Perlman, who is known for his heavily-made up portrayals such as Hellboy. The face makeup for Brolin shows the detailed scars on the right side of Cable’s face, while the full body costume is similar to an outfit seen on the cover of Marvel’s “Cable #18”, released in 2008. Both images visually do the character great justice in accuracy, but will Brolin’s acting chops keep the character’s personality? We can only wait to find out in 2018.
